Framed in black with gold guilded face

This painting focuses on a bouquet of peonies.
To try and capture the brilliance of flowers has always ignited me to paint.
Flowers are such a delicate and short-lived beauty.
I really want to express the shortness of life and the beauty in it. I believe this painting does that.
I also would like to point out the red eyed cicada in the painting. it’s to represent 2024 and their interesting life cycle in 2024, a rate event occurred , Brood XIX (13-year cycle) and Brood XIII (17-year cycle) they both emerged simultaneously, which hasn’t occurred since 1803
